Time in a bubble

Season 4, Episode 6

Funny thing about time. You can capture it in a photo or a recording, but it still escapes our grasp. So don’t think too long about whether you prefer to be alone or find someone because before you know it Mother Nature and Father Time might decide for you. Lux feels like he blew it with this cute older woman because he couldn’t meet her for personal reasons which he didn’t want to reveal. So he lied and made up an excuse.

He felt guilty so when she challenged him, he gave into his lack of confidence and decided that she just didn’t want to see him. Don’t be surprised when you back out of date that someone might lose confidence in you as that right person – but it might actually be a reflection of their own fears. So I say try again. Ask again Lux. You really liked her and wanted to date her. So invite her to a walk in the moonlight and make it extra special. Soothe away her fears and show her that you indeed know how to court a woman. Don’t run away from your own lack of confidence. This is when you man up, okay. Same for women. Believe in yourself, but don’t give up on someone because you are accustomed to disappointment That has to be one of the worst reasons for not giving a person a fair shake.

If you need inspiration this weekend, saturate your emotions with a good romantic movie or at a least movie where you might relate to the love interest. For example, I was surprised by the Top Gun sequel, Maverick, in which had Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) reunited with his old girlfriend Penny Benjamin (Jennifer Connelly) from years ago. Now both much older fall into a relationship again. Penny’s now teen daughter warns Pete not to break her mom’s heart again. It is an interesting subplot that just goes to show you, life has many twists in it. So don’t assume that you know where your heart will land. Just keep it open for surprises! That’s my lesson for today. A good book to read for inspirational romantic lessons is 200 Love Lessons from the Movies (2016) by Leslie C. Halpern. I will share other love lessons from the big screen in the weeks ahead as it is relevant to our discussions on dating after 50.
